SUSTAINING MEMBERS

Sustaining Membership in ELAM is your school’s opportunity to ensure the further development of women leaders in academic health centers.  Sustaining Membership for the current program year runs through June 30, 2009. Your school may join at any time and membership is renewable annually, or you may wish the convenience of joining for a three- or five-year period.

As a sustaining member, your institution will be recognized on ELAM stationery, Web site, syllabus, and other public acknowledgment materials
  • You will receive ELAM newsletters
  • You will have an open invitation to attend the ELAM Forum on Emerging Issues (even if you do not have a Fellow accepted in a given year)
  • You will be able to submit your institution’s open leadership positions for posting on ELAM
  • You will be able to request a list of qualified ELAM alumnae for your open senior-level positions

In return, ELAM will use your membership contribution to expand its services to program graduates. Among the initiatives ELAM has begun to undertake in its second decade are:

  • Providing financial and other support to those who give time to mentor
  • Creating a web-based interactive database enabling alumnae to stay in touch with each other and to identify potential speakers, research partners and mentors
  • Providing expanded career counseling and job search services
  • Advancing scholarship that improves our understanding of women’s leadership development

ELAM is a core program of the Institute for Women's Health and Leadership at Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pa. The Institute continues the legacy of advancing women in medicine that began in 1850 with the founding of the Female Medical College of Pennsylvania, the nation's first women's medical school and a predecessor of today's Drexel University College of Medicine.
