 IMS Placement Information Minimize

The IMS program is designed to assist students in preparing for admission to any U.S. professional school in the health field. Those who excel during the first year are often accepted into health professional schools (such as medical, dental, optometry) and/or other graduate programs. Some students do not complete the program because they find it too hard or because they find the medical sciences less desirable than an alternative career. Those who finish the program and earn a master's degree will have received training in the medical sciences that they can use for a medical professional career or further training. However, admission to a professional school depends on a number of other criteria in addition to academic performance. Therefore, a satisfactory performance in the IMS program does not ensure admission into a medical school.

During the past 26 years, 60 to 85 percent of the students who completed the program successfully (B or higher in all courses) were accepted into U.S. medical schools after the first year. An additional 10 to 20 percent were accepted after completing two years. The overall two-year acceptance rate for each class of students who received B's or higher in all courses ranges from 80 to greater than 92 percent for all years. More than 1000 students have been accepted to more than 86 different schools during these 26 years. Furthermore, students have been accepted to other professional schools after completing one or two years of the program.

After one or two years in the program, students have been accepted to the following medical schools:
