Disease: HIV

Description/Purpose: to develop a personalized anti-HIV immune therapy made from a patient’s own virus. This study is investigating the possibility that this therapy will improve the ability of the patient’s immune system to fight against HIV.

Disease: Stable Coronary Artery Disease

Description/Purpose: this study will evaluate the antiplatelet effects of an investigational medication in patients with stable Coronary Artery Disease. Research subjects will take study medication (either the investigational drug and aspirin or the FDA approved antiplatelet drug Plavix and aspirin) for six weeks. The duration of the study is approximately eight to eleven weeks for each patient and will require frequent visits to the study site for evaluation and laboratory tests. A stipend will be paid to cover patient expenses.

Disease: Diastolic Heart Failure

Study Name: TOPCAT

Description/Purpose: compares an already FDA-approved medication (spironolactone) vs. placebo to learn if we can better treat Diastolic Heart Failure. Spironolactone is approved as a diuretic medication, but not specifically indicated for DHF. Phase 4 study- Sponsor is seeking new indication.
