 Cardiothoracic Surgery Minimize

Overview of the Program

The training program in cardiothoracic surgery has been structured to provide participants a broad experience in all areas of cardiothoracic surgery. There are two separate programs, one for ACGME-accredited residents/fellows (3 years) and a second for non-accredited fellows who are seeking additional training (1 to 2 years). Both programs provide a strong exposure to all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, including beating-heart surgery, valve repair and replacement, minimally invasive mitral valve surgery, implantation of ventricular assist devices and cardiac transplantation. In addition, participants in the ACGME-accredited program spend dedicated time in congenital cardiac surgery and adult thoracic surgery.

Since each program differs significantly in terms of duration, composition of the rotations and eligibility requirements, applicants must choose the program that suits their individual needs.
