We are pleased that you are interested in the Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship Training Program at Drexel University College of Medicine. This program is both comprehensive and diverse in structure with rotations at Graduate Hospital, Abington Memorial Hospital and Hahnemann University Hospital. All hospitals in the training program have busy cardiovascular services with state-of-the-art equipment and cardiac catheterization laboratories, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and electrophysiology laboratories with 3-D mapping systems. The first two years of the program fulfill the ACGME requirements for sitting for the Cardiovascular Diseases Board, allowing some flexibility in the third year for trainees to seek productive clinical, laboratory, and research mentoring time in the tailoring of their careers. The program has a strong early morning conference schedule aimed at producing physicians well-versed in evidence-based scientific cardiovascular disease management. The program has active CT surgical divisions, interventional focus for peripheral vascular disease and ASD closures, EP with AF ablation, and a cardiac transplant division. Clinical research abounds, and the fellows are required to engage in a meaningful research project.

A key philosophy of the program is to engender strong professionalism and personal growth during a time where physicians in training also acquire scientific and advanced clinical skills. Education in cardiovascular medicine is clearly delivered on a personal basis and we strive for that ambience.

The deadline for the receipt of applications with supporting material is in January. After committee review, invitations for interviews will probably occur near the end of February with our interviewing season being mid-March to the end of April. We are participants in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
