Letter from the Program Director Minimize

Cytopathology is a rapidly expanding subspecialty within Pathology. The ability to derive vast amounts of information from a very small sample is a powerful tool. Developments in liquid-based cytology make this a more valuable skill than ever. Cytopathologists also play an important role in education of medical students, Pathology residents, residents and faculty from clinical specialties and cytotechnologists. Our program provides excellent experience in fine needle aspiration cytology performance and on-site specimen evaluation. Many research opportunities both within the department and within the institution are available.

We invite you to come visit us in Philadelphia, to meet our dedicated faculty and residents and see our facilities. We know that cytopathology fellows who train with us will be among the best-prepared to meet the challenges of the healthcare world of the 21st century.

Cheryl A. Hanau, MD
Cytopathology Fellowship Program Director
