Overview of the Fellowship Program
This is a one-year program with an emphasis on diagnostic cytology with biopsy and clinical correlation. The laboratories process a complete spectrum of non-gyn Cytologic specimens. The case load has a strong emphasis on gynecologic material and needle aspirations as well as numerous samples from bone marrow and cardiac transplant recipients. The fellow will participate in the performance of fine needle aspiration on palpable lesions and in on-site evaluation of aspirations performed on non-palpable lesions by clinicians. The fellow will actively participate in all aspects of the Cytology Laboratory including administrative responsibilities, teaching of residents and medical students. Elective time is available in surgical pathology and subspecialty areas including immunoperoxidase studies, molecular studies, image analysis, and flow cytometry. |
