A. Eligibility – candidates for the ACGME-accredited training program must meet all requirements for entrance into the thoracic surgery training program as defined by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. This includes the completion of an approved general surgery training program in the United States or Canada.
In addition, candidates must be eligible for a training license in Pennsylvania and must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a visa that will permit completion of the training program.
B. Application Process – All applicants must use the standard application for the Thoracic Surgery Match. Applications for the Cardiothoracic training program will be accepted through March 1 of each year for admission into the training program on July 1 of the following year. Applicants must submit a Universal application, CV and 3 letters of reference. The interviews are held in the late spring. All positions are filled through the National Residency Match process.
