Overview of the Residency Program

The goal of the Neurology training program at Drexel University College of Medicine is to train excellent clinical neurologists who have a thorough understanding of the scientific basis of their art. To this end, we have structured the program to insure a very broad patient mix that provides exposure to the problems that will be encountered in any active clinical or academic practice.

All conferences and teaching is done by the faculty, as is grand rounds. Patients on the consult and inpatient services are seen by faculty members and residents on a daily basis.

The uniqueness of this faculty lies in the fact that all members are doing basic funded research. The residents are actively encouraged to participate in this research at either a basic science or clinical level and to write papers and present them at national meetings. All residents are encouraged to pursue fellowship training at the end of their residency. This is a program developed for the resident. It is an active program that is fun and stimulating. It is hoped that 50% of our graduates will pursue academic careers. All will be excellent neurologists.
