Currently, six categorical positions are being offered in this non-pyramidal program.

General Surgery - Preliminary

Eleven preliminary positions are offered for one or two years of general surgery training. Currently, six are Designated Prelimary spots and five are Non-Designated.

Selection Process

The requirements for application to the General Surgery Residency Program at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, are as follows:

  1. Applications are only accepted through the ERAS system.
  2. Applicants must have graduated from a recognized medical school within the past 5 years.
  3. Applicants must have obtained a score of 205 or above on the USMLE Step 1 & 2 and should not have failed either Step 1 or Step 2.
  4. Any foreign medical school graduate must have a current ECFMG Certificate.
  5. All applicants must fall under one of the following categories:
    a. U.S. Citizen
    b. Permanent resident
    c. Eligible for a J-1 Visa *at this time we do not support H1-B Visa applications.

Drexel General Surgery Residency Program is a five-year non-pyramidal clinical Categorical Program. We also offer a one- or two-year Preliminary Program; both are fully accredited by the ACGME. Our application deadline is November 15, 2008
