Welcome Message from GSA President Minimize

On behalf of the Drexel University College of Medicine Graduate Student Association (GSA) and all of the graduate students, I welcome you.

The role of the GSA is to work toward the common goals of the graduate student population and address any issues that a graduate student might have. We serve as a link between the students and the faculty or administration. Members of the GSA sit on various committees and meet with those who run the graduate school in order to make sure student affairs are addressed. We also organize and sponsor social events and academic activities to enrich your graduate education.

Through the course of your graduate education, I urge you keep in touch with your GSA officers. We are an expanding program, and the graduate students will play an important part in this institution's growth. We must strive to maintain exceptional quality in our graduate education and we, the students, are the measure of that quality. Although the most important part of being here is to become a better scientist, we can start that by improving the way students around us are able to acquire those skills.

Although the transition into graduate school is directly before you and is a critical time for you, we will be encouraging you to participate in student events, the most import of these being Discovery, the GSA sponsored and run Research Day. As you will come to realize, this is an excellent opportunity for our graduate students and an important event for the College of Medicine as a whole. I believe that participation in this and other GSA events will help you to become an active member of the scientific community and introduce you to the greater world of academic research.

Most importantly, the goal of the GSA is to help our students. We’re here for you because we are all graduate students. Please feel free to discuss any thoughts you have with Megan, Andrea, Tricia, Nina or me at any time. We wish to help in any way to guarantee you success in your graduate studies programs, and we will be here to support our students in any way we can.
