biograd1.jpgDrexel University College of Medicine (Drexel Med), formerly MCP Hahnemann University, has been educating students in biomedical sciences for over 150 years and is committed to continuing excellence in basic, clinical and translational research. At Drexel Med, your training to become an outstanding science professional is our top priority.

As an initial step in achieving this goal, our students engage in a core-curriculum in the first year of study in both the M.S. and Ph.D. programs. Consisting of courses in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, cell signaling and integrative biology, the core curriculum ensures that all students have a broad, fundamental base of scientific knowledge, irrespective of their discipline.

Students also complete lab rotations during this period to gain a breadth of research experience and identify topics for doctoral or master's research. Both programs require a successful completion of a thesis before the degree is awarded. At Drexel Med we believe that learning through such a multidisciplinary approach, adequately prepares you to think about problems in a more global scientific context, giving you the desired flexibility to resolve diverse research problems.

Located in the vibrant City of Philadelphia, Drexel University College of Medicine is the largest private medical school in the country, with an enrollment of more than 1,000 medical students and 200 graduate students.

Combined, these programs take full advantage of Drexel's strengths in engineering, medicine and biology and are complimented by affiliations with research laboratories at Allegheny General Hospital, Lankenau Hospital and Fox Chase Cancer Center. Such a diverse and prolific research environment serves as an exciting backdrop for a multitude of opportunities in graduate education and research training.
