Richard Hamilton, M.D. FAAEM, FACMT received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Hahnemann University. After medical school, Dr. Hamilton was on active duty as a U.S. Navy Flight Surgeon, performing research in aerospace medicine. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y. He subsequently completed a fellowship in medical toxicology at New York University, where he was also a faculty member working in the Emergency Department at Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Hamilton is board certified in emergency medicine and medical toxicology and is a Captain in the U.S. Naval Reserves, and has participated in a number of international exercises and a mobilization. His academic and research interests span a number of areas, including aerospace medicine, carbon monoxide toxicity and epidemiology, and drug and alcohol withdrawal, as well as translational research in carbon derived nanocarbons. He is currently the medical officer supervising the centrifuge training of commercial space flight participants at the NASTAR Center (www.nastarcenter.com).
