BioMed-0093.jpgThe Office of University Student Financial Affairs strives to help all students find the financial resources they need to attend Drexel University College of Medicine.

Students accepted into the Ph.D. program receive:

  • Stipend of $25,500/year
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Full tuition scholarship

Students accepted into the M.D./Ph.D. program receive:

  • Stipend of $25,500/year
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Full tuition scholarship (for medical school and graduate studies)

2008/09 Tuition rates for students enrolled in master's programs are as follows: Full-time students' tuition is $20,110 per year. Part-time or non-matriculating students' tuition is $1,120 per credit hour.

For all students in the Biomedical Graduate Studies programs, financial aid may come from outside sources, such as the federal government and private organizations, or from the University itself. Aid may be in the form of loans, grants, scholarships, or part-time employment. University aid is awarded to students based on financial need.

Additional fees include:

  • Non-refundable deposit: $100
  • General Student Fee: $145
  • Student activity fee: $65 per semester.

BioMed-0086.jpgAll particulars relating to tuition, fees, and financial aid are subject to change. Some students may be eligible to participate in the work-study program. International students are not eligible for federal government financial aid.

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is used to analyze what the student and parents can contribute toward educational expenses. The FAFSA must be submitted no later than May 1 before the academic year for which funds are requested. A variety of competitive tuition and stipend scholarships are available. Research assistantships from individual faculty grants are also available. Students are encouraged to apply for independent funding through the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Whitaker Foundation, and other sources.

Our policy is to have every student funded by one (or a combination) of these mechanisms.

  • Federal Perkins Loan (formerly National Direct Student Loans – NDSL)
  • Federal Work-Study Program (FWS)
  • Federal Stafford Student Loan (formerly the Guaranteed Student Loan – GSL)

  • Sallie Mae
  • PNC Resource Loan
  • MedCAP Alternative Loan
