Welcome to Graduate Medical Education

The Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs at Drexel University College of Medicine (DUCOM) and Hahnemann University Hospital (HUH) are a truly cooperative and joint arrangement, providing the most outstanding clinical training. All house staff members (interns, residents and fellows) are employees of the hospital. In turn, HUH provides the resources to DUCOM to oversee the educational components of graduate medical education. Our GME programs are a combined, mutual effort between HUH and DUCOM to provide the highest quality education, service delivery and academic and clinical environment possible. We train house staff to be excellent clinicians who are prepared to pass their boards and provide compassionate care to their patients.

Drexel University College of Medicine, among the largest private medical schools in the United States, offers residents and fellows a full range of training at primary and affiliated hospital sites located throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

Our residency/fellowship programs provide an exceptionally well-rounded clinical experience with opportunities in primary, secondary, and tertiary care and exposure to the most current research, technologies, treatments, and resources.

GME is guided by the recognition that today's medical professionals, no matter what their specialty, must be able to understand their patients' illnesses and their role as practitioners within larger contexts.

Our training program emphasizes inclusive, collaborative approaches to patient care, appropriate for today's rapidly changing and increasingly interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
