Thesis Research Summary:

I am from Kenya, the premier safari country and the ultimate travel destination. It is a land of contrasts, comprising of arid deserts, rich savannahs, snow-capped Mount Kenya, the Great Rift Valley, lakes, and palm-fringed sandy beaches. The country not only boasts the widest array of game species in Africa but also the most culturally diverse population with approximately 30 different languages being spoken. Kenyans are the best marathon runners.

Unfortunately, being a developing country, Kenyan economic growth has been hindered by such global scourges like Malaria and HIV-AIDS that claim hundreds of lives everyday. Although my exact research goal is yet to be refined, my interests include studying the molecular basis of diseases and the immunological ways of preventing them. I believe that my doctorate training in Microbiology and Immunology at Drexel will not only advance my knowledge, but also endow me with the necessary practical skills pertinent to making a good scientist. Upon graduating, I would like to proceed to a postdoctoral position and eventually work in an academic and research environment. Besides making new friends and traveling, I love listening to music as well as watching soccer.
