I was born and brought up in New Delhi, the capital city of India. Being an Indian exposes you to a multilingual, multicultural way of life and it’s hard for people who have not stayed in India to imagine the unity in diversity there. All my life, I have completed my education from New Delhi. Therefore, I have had the privilege to watch religion and history from close quarters. Beautiful monuments from the Mughal and British period adorn Delhi. And it was this passion for exploring my motherland that made me an avid traveler. Besides traveling, my other pastimes are listening to music and playing a very popular Indian percussion instrument called the Tabla.
Unfortunately, living in India also exposes you to the pitfalls of a burgeoning population. Right from my undergraduate days, I wanted to take up active research and play my part in mitigating diseases like AIDS and malaria from my country. Having joined Drexel, I now have an opportunity to do so and would like to focus my attention towards one of the two above mentioned global scourges. Ultimately, I would like to head a research group that would work in conjunction with other groups in tropical countries.
