Thesis Research Summary:

I come from a small hamlet, Vanganoor, located 100 Km away from Chennai. I did my schooling from a government school based at the same village. After my high school, I enrolled at Madras Veterinary College, TANUVAS, the first veterinary university in Asia, for pursuing Bachelor of Veterinary Science. The curriculum instilled nook and corner of the veterinary profession and instigated my research interest on the infectious diseases of animal and human beings. After my under graduation, I got an opportunity to join the premier veterinary institution, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, UP where I obtained my masters degree with specialization in Veterinary Parasitology. This opened up new avenue and exposed me to a different culture and I really enjoyed those days when I was doing my masters over there. The institute, particularly the parasitology division, has very good infrastructure facilities and helped me to gain hands on training in the immunological and molecular based techniques. My M.V.Sc. research work included the identification, cloning and characterization of a virulent gene encoding cysteine protease of a vector borne animal parasite, Theileria. My research interests include drug designing against intimidating human diseases such as HIV, Malaria and also cancer. Drexel has given me an opportunity to fulfill my desire. I am very much delighted to secure a PhD position at this renowned university. I will try my level best to reach my advisor’s expectations. I am sure that I will succeed and find a niche in the chosen field. Apart from studies, I enjoy traveling, listening to music and chatting with friends.
