I hail from Mumbai (Bombay), a tropical archipelago of seven islands and the financial capital of India. With diverse ethnic backgrounds and people that speak over a dozen tongues, Mumbai is India microcosm. I received my M.Sc. (Master of Science) in Biotechnology from the Department of Biotechnology, University of Mumbai and my B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) in Chemistry and Vocational Biotechnology from Ramnarain Ruia College, University of Mumbai. I was exposed to research work in my first year of my Bachelors’ program and thus I got hold of a golden opportunity to hone my skills in Enzymology, Biochemistry and Microbiology. I have worked on research projects in the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi, and at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Government of India, Trombay.
I enjoy reading novels, music, and watching television apart from my studies. I am a trained Bharat Natyam dancer. My future goals include establishing a career in research and educating people about science. Research in Microbiology and Immunology throughout the world has raised many relevant questions and I would like to be one of the people working towards the answers. I believe that the Microbiology- Immunology program will help me realize my ambition of contributing in a big way to Science.
