I come from a western city of India, Ahmedabad. I grew up and did most of my schooling there. I did my undergraduate studies at St. Xavier's College in Ahmedabad, majoring in Chemistry. My undergrad research focused on the synthesis and biological activities of some antibacterial and antifungal drugs. In 2002, I transferred to Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, majoring in Biotechnology. During my academic career at RIT, I got an internship at the University of Rochester. My research mainly focused on characterizing the repertoire of the CD8+ NK/T-Cells in Xenopus laevis (African clawed frog). I also contributed towards characterizing the immune response in Xenopus upon viral infection with FV3 (frog virus 3). After graduating from RIT, I worked at the Functional Genomics Center at the University of Rochester as a technical associate. I feel Drexel is an awesome school and I look forward to starting my Ph.D. I love playing volleyball, traveling, hanging out with friends, and lately I am also thinking of getting flying lessons. After completing Ph.D., I plan on working as a research associate or scientist in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry.
