Programs
The Department of Psychiatry
has multiple research projects at its various sites. Strong
research programs exist in:
- the pharmacologic treatment
of psychotic, affective and personality disorders
- the neurobiological basis
for aggression and violence
- the concomitant use of pharmacotherapy
and behavioral therapy for the treatment of schizophrenia
- neural plasticity of aging
- neuropsychology
- learning disorders
- traumatic stress in children
and adolescents
- addiction treatment effectiveness
- neuropsycyhiatry, including
psychiatric and behavioral concomitants of cerebrovascular
accidents (CVAs), traumatic brain injury (TBI), multiple
sclerosis, epilepsy and dementias and perinatal substance
abuse disorders.
There is also a major program
focusing on studies of child and family development.
