 Mini-Medical School Minimize

Drexel University College of Medicine’s new Mini-Medical School is a landmark community education program. We are the first medical school in the Philadelphia region to offer this type of program to the community. The program is intended to help improve the community’s understanding of the field of medicine while helping Drexel University College of Medicine doctors to interact more personally with community members. Through this interaction and shared learning, it is our hope to make our community a healthier place to live. This is our goal but what is Mini-Medical School?

Mini-Medical School offers five distinctly different medical education programs. All programs are open to community members interested in expanding their medical knowledge.

Mini-Med II meets one night a week for six weeks and is open to anyone in the community interested in the latest medical advances and in learning how to better understand their own medical care. Each two-hour class focuses on one of the latest medical treatments in patient care. Sessions include a lecture, followed by a “get your hands dirty” (but not too dirty) laboratory experience or small group learning session. Open discussion, dialogue and lively exchanges between students and faculty are an integral part of each session. This is your chance to ask the medical questions you’ve always wanted to ask.

Mini-Med Summer Camp™ is a unique 5 week program open to academically gifted high school students who show an interest in pursuing a career as a physician.  This program will expose the students to clinical, didactic and research aspects of medicine.

Mini-Med Spring Break™ is a 1 week program open to college students who will be pursuing a career in medicine.  This program will expose the participant to what to expect during their medical school training.

Mini-Med Doc for a Day™ is  a fantastic opportunity to live out your dream.  Open to the adult who is looking to gain a one-on-one understanding of a physician's life.

The surgical immersion program is offered to physicians who have graduated from a medical school outside of the United States. Please e-mail mlee@drexelmed.edu for further information.
